This has usability issues. In particular, it is impossible to stage only the change "old1"->"new1" or unstage the change "old2"->"new2" of this hunk:

Being able to do that was one of the goals, and I missed it :-( Since that's my personal itch, I'll come up with a patch rather sooner than later.
