Allowing dot files is a good thing, I think. But there is another issue I want to hear your comment on. My git frontend uses regular expressions from .git/ignore to filter orphan files I know about when calling 'git status' or 'git orhpan'. However, I thought to add this file to versioning. Because I think it belongs there. However I have to think that through.
So if there would be a .git/etc or something were I can put files which stay under revision control and maybe add some options to the frontend or git core to don't diff against them per default. But this sounds just ugly. Maybe I should just retrieve the ignore list when doing push/pulls. But I dislike this idea to. However I have to think a bit longer over this.
Comments, anyone?
Thomas
