Did you by any chance also test the "master" branch? There's been some fixes to the commit graph that weren't released as part of Git 2.55 yet, so chance are those could fix the issue for you.

Do you by any chance have a minimal reproducer? That'd help us tremendously to reproduce and then fix the issue if it wasn't already fixed on "master".
