But this should be mentionned in http://www.kernel.org/pub/software/scm/git/docs/git-commit-tree.html too.

Perhaps, "As an alternative to editing the .git/config or ~/.gitconfig manually, you can use git-repo-config".

BTW, http://www.kernel.org/pub/software/scm/git/docs/git-commit-tree.html also fails to mention ~/.gitconfig.
