The original author hasn't touched anything since this time last year. We do have a fork of it at Gentoo: http://git.overlays.gentoo.org/gitweb/?p=proj/gitosis-gentoo.git

However we are looking at migrating the Gentoo Gitosis instances to Gitolite in the near future.

At the very least, I'd love to see them and perhaps apply them in Gentoo.
