Thanks a lot. I don't know if it is a good time, with git being in feature freeze, and GSoC project about adding caching to gitweb in the works, but I'll take this patch and resend it if needed. I'll try to comment on it soon.

That said, I think that the subject (oneline commit summary) should include 'gitweb', e.g.

  "gitweb: Optional grouping of projects by category"
