Yeah, to be clear on my own position, I agree with Peff here. I was merely suggesting that there might be more work here than we estimate, and that it would be nice to take advantage of the experience and years of work that have gone into git-compat-util.h if that were the case.

Certainly you have done a great job at responding promptly to any breakages, which is greatly appreciated by myself and the project.
