Hello,
My name is Mohamed Bakr and I am interested in contributing to the Git project. I am particularly interested in potentially applying for Google Summer of Code 2026 and wanted to ask if the project intends to participate as a mentoring organization this year.
While waiting for the official organization announcements in February, I would like to begin familiarizing myself with the codebase and submission process. I have already reviewed Documentation/MyFirstContribution.txt.
Are there any specific "micro-projects" or small tasks currently recommended for newcomers to practice sending patches to the list? Additionally, if there is a specific mailing list or channel dedicated to GSoC discussions for Git, please let me know.
Thank you for your time and for maintaining such a vital tool.
Best regards, Mohamed Bakr Abas Hamza
