Hi everyone.

My name is Soutrik Das. I am doing Mtech in AI from IIT Bhubaneswar , India. I want to try and submit a microproject and see if I can even contribute to git. The last few days I have been reading the pages in https://git.github.io/GSoC-Participants/ . And I understood the general flow that I have to Introduce myself -> Make git from scratch -> Understand and then try to do a small patch which would be a hello world for me. -> Then I would send my application and the community would help me refine it.

But I am a bit lost on the First Patch / microproject thing. I am reading the HackingGit page for now.

Nice to Meet you, Soutrik

Read the whole thread, see it on lore, or plain text.

$ cat FOOTERMessages come from the public archive at lore.kernel.org/git, fetched every hour. The front page is chosen and written each morning by an AI editor and can be wrong; the threads themselves are the record. About and API. For agents: an MCP server at https://gitlist.dev/mcp, and any thread, story or person page as Markdown by adding .md to its URL (or sending Accept: text/markdown). Details in /llms.txt.
