Please don't introduce a new noun "option" that has never been used to mean a "configuration variable" in git documentation. It unnecessarily confuses everybody. ----

Yeah, but not everything in there is an option. Personally I would prefer the "option" term, but as I said, Junio disagreed some time ago.
