I am very much in favor of --no-index in the sense that I would prefer to have it in the system than not having it.

I am neutral to the configuration variable in the sense that I wouldn't miss it if we don't have it and I wouldn't spend too much of my own brain-cycle to add such a variable, but I wouldn't be disturbed too much by it if we had it in the system.
