That is understandable, but I do not foresee it happening anytime soon, as it would involve quite a lot of changes to the generate-compare-update infrastructure, and I wouldn't be touching it unless I have absolutely nothing else to do.

In the meantime, please run "git log --oneline --first-parent master..pu", pick "ce8d258 Merge 'jn/maint-fix-pager'" from the output, and use the second parent ce8d258^2 instead.
