My git version "1.6.0.2" says:

# On branch master # Changes to be committed: # (use "git reset HEAD <file>..." to unstage) # # new file: .gitmodules # new file: lib # # Untracked files: # (use "git add <file>..." to include in what will be committed) # # lib/ git --version git version 1.6.0.2

Git was build from macports.
