git svn problem, probably a regression

I'm running git 1.8.0 via Homebrew on OS X. It was called via svn2git but I doubt that this is the culprit. A colleague of mine was able to perform the same operation with git 1.7.x (not sure which) on Debian so I assume that this is a regression.
