It does work with the following mailmap:
    Ondrej Certik <ondrej@certik.cz>    ondrej.certik <devnull@localhost>
before:
$ git shortlog -s | grep -i certik
   654  Ondrej Certik
   268  ondrej.certik
after:
$ git shortlog -s | grep -i certik
   922  Ondrej Certik
