currently, Cogito has a generic "blocking" mechanism which will prevent you to do operations mutating the history (mostly committing and mergnign) - seeking is the only user now.
Note that this is not very flexible and I consider this legacy stuff; I will replace that by a specific check for a seek when I have some time (which will also make it compatible with the git-bisect-using-headname).
