As a starting point, I plan to work on a small refactor that replaces a direct use of the `the_repository` global variable with a function parameter (`struct repository *repo`) in one of the related source files. This will help me get familiar with Git’s development workflow and contribute incrementally toward reducing global state. Please let me know if anyone is already working on a similar change, or if there’s a specific file you’d recommend I start from. Thank you for maintaining such a welcoming community. There are lots of files with Global variables, so your work would most likely not affect others. As a starting point, you might want to look into any file in builtin/. You can also look at previous patches around the same issue for reference. One is this [1].
