I don't think this is a typo. We frequently refer to the most recent commit on a branch as the "tip of the branch". Saying "top" is not wrong, but we use "tip" pretty consistently (it does not get its own glossary entry, but see the "branch" entry in "git help glossary"). -Peff ```
