The last rc before the final, 1.6.0-rc3, can be found at the usual places:
  http://www.kernel.org/pub/software/scm/git/
  git-1.6.0.rc3.tar.{gz,bz2} (source tarball)
  git-htmldocs-1.6.0.rc3.tar.{gz,bz2} (preformatted docs)
  git-manpages-1.6.0.rc3.tar.{gz,bz2} (preformatted docs)

The RPM binary packages for a few architectures are also provided as courtesy.

  testing/git-*-1.6.0.rc3-1.fc9.$arch.rpm	(RPM)
Hopefully the real 1.6.0 will appear over the weekend.

The git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/git/git.git repo is missing a v1.6.0-rc3 tag.

I've checked the current master branch (04c6e9e), but it does not contain the gitk fix from Alexander Gavrilov ([PATCH (GITK BUGFIX)] gitk: Allow safely calling nukefile from a run queue handler.); Paul Mackerras said he applied it (somewhere); I just think that this is an issue that will probably bite many people and so should be fixed in 1.6.0.

Christian.
