Harald Nordgren posted a three-patch series after four CI jobs began failing when ubuntu-latest moved to Ubuntu 26.04. The documentation, fuzz smoke test and static-analysis jobs fail with "ln: failed to create symbolic link '/usr/bin/dirname': Already exists". The linux32 job cannot resolve deb.debian.org.
The first patch runs the ln that replaces dirname with sudo, in ci/install-dependencies.sh. The commit message cites a failing Git for Windows run. The second pins the linux32 job to ubuntu-24.04. Its message says Docker 29.4.2's seccomp profile on Ubuntu 26.04 blocks socketcall in i386 glibc containers, which breaks DNS resolution before checkout. It points to actions/runner-images issue 14790.
The cover letter notes that a Docker update in actions/runner-images#15205 fixes this on 26.04. It argues that a new runner image will take a long time to roll out and that CI should not stay broken meanwhile. The first two patches are credited as based on Johannes Schindelin's fixes in Git for Windows (git-for-windows/git#6473).
The third patch is cosmetic. It switches the linux32 job from apt to apt-get, which removes the "apt does not have a stable CLI interface" warning printed twice. ci/install-dependencies.sh already uses apt-get.
The excerpts show no replies yet, so whether maintainers will accept pinning the job to 24.04 is not known.
