Test 38 in t/t1450-fsck.sh ("rev-list --verify-objects with truncated loose blob") replaces a loose blob with a truncated version using mv. Git creates loose objects read-only, so the step overwrites a read-only file. Torsten Bögershausen's patch says macOS mv(1) before 12.3 prompts for confirmation, and when the answer is not 'y' the file is not overwritten and the test fails. The fix is "mv -f".

Junio C Hamano suggested tightening the explanation and keeping only the important parts. His proposed message says the prompt appears when the test runs interactively and causes the test to hang or fail. Torsten thanked him and said he will wait a little before sending v3.

Tuomas Ahola, who listed two typos in the commit message, added a technical caveat. He wrote that the glitch seems to have been fixed in macOS 12.3, whose change replaced "when" with "if" without changing the meaning. The observed behavior should not happen if stdin is not a terminal.

He also questioned the wording about older versions, saying those macOS releases lack that logic in mv(1) and asking whether nonexistent logic can fail. The excerpt ends as he begins to describe the actual change in 12.3. Torsten's v3 is expected to address the wording.
