Looks like /usr/ucb/tr is OK with this, but /usr/bin/tr is not. Both seem to handle the more verbose: tr \ 'abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ' \ 'nopqrstuvwxyzabcdefghijklmNOPQRSTUVWXYZABCDEFGHIJKLM' just fine. -Peff
