I like to have a simple \"git pull\" while on this \nbranch pull from the upstream stable tree, so as advised earlier, I put:\n\n[branch \"v22\"]\n remote = linux-2.6.22.y\n merge = refs/heads/master\n[remote \"linux-2.6.22.y\"]\n url = \ngit://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-2.6.22.y.git\n fetch = refs/heads/master\n\nin ./git/config. \"git pull\" now indeed works nicely.\n\nI just noticed now though that this doesn't automatiically fetches tags as \nwell. That is, no v2.6.22.x tags after that. \"git fetch --tags\" (or git pull \n--tags directly, I assume) gets them without problem, but I was expecting \nthey'd be fetched automatically.\n\nShould they? Can they? Can I put anything in the config so they will?\n\nRene.\n"},{"id":"53055","messageId":"7vfy1h9cgc.fsf@gitster.siamese.dyndns.org","threadId":"9844","inReplyTo":"46EAE189.5000804@gmail.com","subject":"Re: tags \"problem\"","fromName":"Junio C Hamano","fromEmail":"gitster@pobox.com","sentAt":"2007-09-14T21:14:27Z","receivedAt":"2007-09-14T21:14:27Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"gitster@pobox.com","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/54884?v=4"},"body":"Rene Herman <rene.herman@gmail.com> writes:\n\n> Hi people.\n>\n> (please keep me in CC)\n>\n> Was just busy constructing a tree and noticed a \"problem\" -- no doubt\n> caused by me, but help appreciated.\n>\n> I clone linus' kernel tree into ./local, then do a\n>\n> \tgit checkout -b v22 v2.6.22\n>\n> to get a 2.6.22 branch.
