It would be\ninteresting to find what changed since then. Therefore the idea to\nhave another survey.\n\nFirst there is a question about the form of survey. Should we use web\nbased survey, as the survey before (http://www.survey.net.nz), sending\nemails with link to this survey, or perhaps do email based survey,\nwith email Reply-To: address put for this survey alone?\n\nSecond, what questions should be put in the survey, and in the case of\nsingle choice and multiple choice questions what possible answers\nshould be? Below are slightly extended questions from the last\nsurvey. Please comment on it.\n\nThird, where to send survey to? I was thinking about git mailing list,\nLKML, and mailing list for git projects found on GitProjects page on\nGIT wiki. Do you want to add some address? Or should info about GIT\nUser's Survey 2007 be sent also to one of on-line magazines like\nLinuxToday, or asked to put on some blog?\n\nThose lists include:\n wine-users, xmms2-devel, xcb (freedesktop), cairo, u-boot-users,\n git mailing list, lklm (thanks to Paolo Ciarrocchi)\n LWN, NewsForge, Slashdot, OSNews,\n\nThose lists might include:\n CRUX Linux, Source Mage Linux, DirectFB, GNU LilyPond, OLPC,\n Thousands Parsec, X.Org, Mesa3D, Beryl -> Compiz Fusion,\n\nOther possibilities:\n OpenOffice.org, Mozilla (MozillaZine), SeaMonkey,\n KDE (dot.kde.net), GNOME, Blue GNU\n\nReferences:\n http://marc.info/?l=git&m=115116592330648&w=2\n http://marc.info/?l=git&m=115364303813936&w=2\n http://git.or.cz/gitwiki/GitSurvey\n\n----\nHi all,\n\nWe would like to ask you a few questions about your use of the GIT\nversion control system. I haven't supported it in a very\nlong time. Might be a good idea to keep it in this survey just to\nmake sure its 0, then omit it from the next survey. :-)\n\n> Changes in GIT (since year ago, or since you started using it)\n...\n> 5. But I'd never really seen it all written out\nin such a concise list; there's so much blood, sweat and tears\nin those topics from everyone on (and off) this mailing list.\nReading it now is bringing back a lot of memories for me.\n\nSorry, I just had a very emotional reaction to seeing how much we\nhave managed to accomplish in so little time. Some of us have talked about\nthis on and off from time to time, I wonder what our user community\nthinks of it. I think Sam Vilain was suggesting he sell Git support\nto my day-job company, so my coworkers could call him and ask him\nquestions, and he could ask me those same questions on #git, then\nmail me a 6-pack of beer[*1*] for my troubles. :)\n\n\n[*1*] And sadly I don't drink beer...\n \n-- \nShawn.\n"},{"id":"49682","messageId":"85sl6ziw7x.fsf@lola.goethe.zz","threadId":"9213","inReplyTo":"200708040250.55180.jnareb@gmail.com","subject":"Re: [RFC (take 3)] Git User's Survey 2007","fromName":"David Kastrup","fromEmail":"dak@gnu.org","sentAt":"2007-08-04T07:40:18Z","receivedAt":"2007-08-04T07:40:18Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"dak@gnu.org","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/52141349?v=4"},"body":"Jakub Narebski <jnareb@gmail.com> writes:\n\n> Getting help, staying in touch\n>\n> 1. That is\noften inversely proportional to the quality of help and support: one\nhas forums where lots of friendly people without much of a clue hang\nout, and then there are some where one can always get competent and\nfast help in one package with an ulcer.\n\nThe German TeX Usenet group has sort of a renown for that.
