The repo owner has to somehow\n'tell' people about the tags, in order for them to be able to get them.\n\nApparently this is useful because it allows smaller groups to work together with\ntheir own 'local' tags, without polluting the main tree.\n\nBe well,\nZack\n\n> \n> -- \n> Jon Smirl\n> jonsmirl@gmail.com\n> -\n> To unsubscribe from this list: send the line \"unsubscribe git\" in\n> the body of a message to majordomo@vger.kernel.org\n> More majordomo info at  http://vger.kernel.org/majordomo-info.html\n\n-- \nZack Brown\n"},{"id":"4905","messageId":"9e473391050612105461005e3f@mail.gmail.com","threadId":"918","inReplyTo":"20050612174905.GA18751@tumblerings.org","subject":"Re: cogito and tags propagation","fromName":"Jon Smirl","fromEmail":"jonsmirl@gmail.com","sentAt":"2005-06-12T17:54:44Z","receivedAt":"2005-06-12T17:54:44Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"jonsmirl@gmail.com","avatar":"https://gravatar.com/avatar/cff3bf5bfdfa6708b905712ff91f0f9b8aaca161659f38c02b787920d5d28b7e?d=mp&s=160"},"body":"On 6/12/05, Zack Brown <zbrown@tumblerings.org> wrote:\n> On Sun, Jun 12, 2005 at 11:50:08AM -0400, Jon Smirl wrote:\n> > If I add a tag to tree A,  then go to tree B which depends on A and do\n> > cg update. So\nthe tags do move through the system. But it seems that they need a\ncommit to make them move, apparently creating a new tag doesn't count\nas a commit (and make a new tree head id).\n\n[jonsmirl@jonsmirl .git]$ ls refs/tags\nv2.6.11  v2.6.11-tree  v2.6.12-rc2  v2.6.12-rc3  v2.6.12-rc4 \nv2.6.12-rc5  v2.6.12-rc6\n\n> \n> Apparently this is useful because it allows smaller groups to work together with\n> their own 'local' tags, without polluting the main tree.\n> \n> Be well,\n> Zack\n> \n> >\n> > --\n> > Jon Smirl\n> > jonsmirl@gmail.com\n> > -\n> > To unsubscribe from this list: send the line \"unsubscribe git\" in\n> > the body of a message to majordomo@vger.kernel.org\n> > More majordomo info at  http://vger.kernel.org/majordomo-info.html\n> \n> --\n> Zack Brown\n> \n\n\n-- \nJon Smirl\njonsmirl@gmail.com\n"}]}
