It's important to mention\nversion 1.5.1 since these documents provide example commands that\nwon't work with previous versions of git.\n\n---\n\nThis really tripped up a recent friend who tried to go through the\ntutorial on the web page while following along with a 1.4 version of\ngit, and got very confused.\n\nThere's definitely a bunch more that could be done here, (include a\nparagraph explaining which version of git is necessary, mention where\nto go to upgrade git, call out particular commands that require\nspecific versions of git, dynamically generate the version that gets\nstuck into the documentation, etc.). But I just went with the most\nminimal think I could think of to solve the problem\n\n-Carl\n\n Documentation/tutorial.txt    |    4 ++--\n Documentation/user-manual.txt |    4 ++--\n 2 files changed, 4 insertions(+), 4 deletions(-)\n\ndiff --git a/Documentation/tutorial.txt b/Documentation/tutorial.txt\nindex e978562..99efce4 100644\n--- a/Documentation/tutorial.txt\n+++ b/Documentation/tutorial.txt\n@@ -1,5 +1,5 @@\n-A tutorial introduction to git\n-==============================\n+A tutorial introduction to git (for version 1.5.1 or newer)\n+===========================================================\n\n This tutorial explains how to import a new project into git, make\n changes to it, and share changes with other developers.\ndiff --git a/Documentation/user-manual.txt b/Documentation/user-manual.txt\nindex 9c4c41d..dff438f 100644\n--- a/Documentation/user-manual.txt\n+++ b/Documentation/user-manual.txt\n@@ -1,5 +1,5 @@\n-Git User's Manual\n-_________________\n+Git User's Manual (for version 1.5.1 or newer)\n+______________________________________________\n\n This manual is designed to be readable by someone with basic unix\n command-line skills, but no previous knowledge of git.\n--\n1.5.1.1.g6aead\n\n"}]}
