I am a new user, so I do not really have any idea how to answer the questions I was asked when installing Git (for Windows). I made my best guess based on the descriptive text provided, but not sure that was very clear in some of the questions.\n\nSo, I would like to suggest you provide a default installation (or a couple) based on a more limited set of questions. I am going to guess that these options can be changed after Git is installed.\n\nRight now, I only installed it so I can manage all the older copies of my source code which I have been working on. It is a single program \"project\" of about 600 lines. I just want to make sure I do not accumulate too many prior versions since I will not need them right now.\n\nThanks for listening! I appreciate that there is a free tool to handle version control and whatever else it provides!\n\nKen Englander"},{"id":"524149","messageId":"xmqqy0rnas3w.fsf@gitster.g","threadId":"63957","inReplyTo":"SA0PR19MB43679ADC65CCBE9DB385FFE8AC2AA@SA0PR19MB4367.namprd19.prod.outlook.com","subject":"Re: installation comment","fromName":"Junio C Hamano","fromEmail":"gitster@pobox.com","sentAt":"2025-08-13T20:23:15Z","receivedAt":"2025-08-13T20:23:18Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"gitster@pobox.com","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/54884?v=4"},"body":"Ken Englander <ken.englander@yahoo.com> writes:\n\n> I just wanted to offer a suggestion related to the installation\n> procedure. The Git\nfor Windows project, however, does ship the installer you had\ntrouble with, and you can report this at\n\n https://github.com/git-for-windows/git/issues\n\nwhich is their issue tracker.
