So there's nothing you can do on\nthe client-side to address the problem, you'll have to reach out to the\nadmin of that repository and tell them that the repository uses an\ninvalid value for \"core.fsync\".\n\n> I also tried git with different version (2.25.1 and 2.34.1) to clone the\n> repo, both will show this warning. What configuration causes this warning?\n\nIt's \"core.fsync\" indeed, but not on your side. The config does not take\na boolean, but rather a list of components that should use fsync. I\nguess the admin wanted to just fsync everything, but in that case you\ndon't want \"core.fsync=true\" but \"core.fsync=all\".\n\nPatrick\n"},{"id":"522637","messageId":"c2dcded3-a317-4065-a26c-3cb12a860eba@windriver.com","threadId":"63829","inReplyTo":"aIBy3xH2eZsCZYiY@pks.im","subject":"Re: warning: ignoring unknown core.fsync component 'true'","fromName":"Wang, Jinfeng (CN)","fromEmail":"jinfeng.wang.cn@windriver.com","sentAt":"2025-07-24T08:08:12Z","receivedAt":"2025-07-24T08:08:29Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"jinfeng.wang.cn@windriver.com","avatar":null},"body":"Hi Patrick,\n\nThanks.\n\nOn 7/23/2025 1:27 PM, Patrick Steinhardt wrote:\n> CAUTION: This email comes from a non Wind River email account!\n> Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and know the content is safe.\n>\n> Hi Jinfeng,\n>\n> On Wed, Jul 23, 2025 at 11:07:37AM +0800, Wang, Jinfeng (CN) wrote:\n>> For a specific git repo, when I clone or fetch the repo, I encounters the\n>> warning\n>>\n>> remote: warning: ignoring unknown core.fsync component 'true'\n>> remote: Enumerating objects: 41, done.\n>> remote: Total 41 (delta 0), reused 0 (delta 0), pack-reused 41\n>> Unpacking objects: 100% (41/41), 37.51 MiB | 10.91 MiB/s, done.\n>>\n>> But after clone the repo, I didn't see core.fsync in my .git/config.
