I am\nwriting to express my keen interest in contributing to Git as part of\nthe GSOC program.\n\nAs I prepare to graduate, I am eager to contribute to open source\ndevelopment, and I believe that participating in GSoC with Git would\nbe an excellent opportunity to kickstart this endeavor.\n\nFor the microproject, I can update the file\n`t/t9803-git-p4-shell-metachars.sh` with the `test_path_*` asserts as\nrequired,the tests only have the checks at 6 locations which can be\nreplaced with `test_path_exists`, `test_path_is_missing` and\n`test_path_is_file`, Please let me know if this is enough for a\nmicroproject.\n\nI am particularly interested in the \"Move existing tests to a unit\ntesting framework\" project. I plan to familiarize myself with the\ntesting framework, and the changes needed in the codebase for the\nproject\n\nRegards\nSanchit Jindal\n"},{"id":"490954","messageId":"CAPig+cS_L=CS7TQhrt5m8M+O-OsdH0oiZkttWp9SxdbZw0Cu6Q@mail.gmail.com","threadId":"61156","inReplyTo":"CAN7Jk_0hKTacR4cQiYFW-dcj6ipA=8QcCGrVd7rrJ4vVUxUBKg@mail.gmail.com","subject":"Re: [GSOC] Microproject: Use `test_path_is_*` functions in test scripts","fromName":"Eric Sunshine","fromEmail":"sunshine@sunshineco.com","sentAt":"2024-03-19T20:33:36Z","receivedAt":"2024-03-19T20:33:47Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"sunshine@sunshineco.com","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/163641?v=4"},"body":"On Tue, Mar 19, 2024 at 4:21 PM Sanchit Jindal <sanchit1053@gmail.com> wrote:\n> For the microproject, I can update the file\n> `t/t9803-git-p4-shell-metachars.sh` with the `test_path_*` asserts as\n> required,the tests only have the checks at 6 locations which can be\n> replaced with `test_path_exists`, `test_path_is_missing` and\n> `test_path_is_file`, Please let me know if this is enough for a\n> microproject.\n\nUtilizing `test_path_*` in t9803 would be suitable for a microproject.\n"},{"id":"491027","messageId":"CAN7Jk_0Jhr3SvG6Sk=5BXt-W3UpSvOoenUBUZ_XieAdApoo3kQ@mail.gmail.com","threadId":"61156","inReplyTo":"CAPig+cS_L=CS7TQhrt5m8M+O-OsdH0oiZkttWp9SxdbZw0Cu6Q@mail.gmail.com","subject":"Re: [GSOC] Microproject: Use `test_path_is_*` functions in test scripts","fromName":"Sanchit Jindal","fromEmail":"sanchit1053@gmail.com","sentAt":"2024-03-20T18:51:41Z","receivedAt":"2024-03-20T18:51:52Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"sanchit1053@gmail.com","avatar":null},"body":"On Wed, 20 Mar 2024 at 02:04, Eric Sunshine <sunshine@sunshineco.com> wrote:\n>\n> On Tue, Mar 19, 2024 at 4:21 PM Sanchit Jindal <sanchit1053@gmail.com> wrote:\n> > For the microproject, I can update the file\n> > `t/t9803-git-p4-shell-metachars.sh` with the `test_path_*` asserts as\n> > required,the tests only have the checks at 6 locations which can be\n> > replaced with `test_path_exists`, `test_path_is_missing` and\n> > `test_path_is_file`, Please let me know if this is enough for a\n> > microproject.\n>\n> Utilizing `test_path_*` in t9803 would be suitable for a microproject.\n\nHello,\nI am having some trouble with the institutes firewall and `git\nsend-email` due to which I am not able to send a patch email, I have\ncreated a PR on gitgitgadget, can I please be allowed to submit it,\n\nThank you\nSanchit Jindal\n"},{"id":"491028","messageId":"CAPig+cTXe7cJyqp2RBjvL3FKmu7uPfAPrK+jjqGTKyGn2p2Trw@mail.gmail.com","threadId":"61156","inReplyTo":"CAN7Jk_0Jhr3SvG6Sk=5BXt-W3UpSvOoenUBUZ_XieAdApoo3kQ@mail.gmail.com","subject":"Re: [GSOC] Microproject: Use `test_path_is_*` functions in test scripts","fromName":"Eric Sunshine","fromEmail":"sunshine@sunshineco.com","sentAt":"2024-03-20T19:22:41Z","receivedAt":"2024-03-20T19:22:53Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"sunshine@sunshineco.com","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/163641?v=4"},"body":"On Wed, Mar 20, 2024 at 2:51 PM Sanchit Jindal <sanchit1053@gmail.com> wrote:\n> I am having some trouble with the institutes firewall and `git\n> send-email` due to which I am not able to send a patch email, I have\n> created a PR on gitgitgadget, can I please be allowed to submit it,\n\nDone.\n\nNote that GitGitGadget identified a problem with your GitHub\nconfiguration which you'll need to correct, after which you can\n\"/submit\" the PR again.\n"}]}
