The things we need to do are all based\non the Git repository itself, not the parent. The only thing we need to\nkeep is to allow a user to specify the repo by pointing to the directory\nimmediately above the 'src' directory.\n\n> 'scalar register somedir/enlistment/test/data' will search:\n> \n>   * somedir/enlistment/test/data/src\n>   * somedir/enlistment/test/data\n>   * somedir/enlistment/test/src\n>   * somedir/enlistment/test\n>   * somedir/enlistment/src\n\nInstead, we could do the following on a specified <dir>:\n\n * If <dir>/src exists, find the Git directory by finding the first Git\n   repository containing <dir>/src.\n * Otherwise, find the first Git repository containing <dir>.\n\nIs there an easy way to discover a Git repository at a specific directory?\nOr, do we do something simpler, like changing directories then calling\nsetup_git_directory()? I think simplifying the logic that way should\nrespect GIT_CEILING_DIRECTORIES correctly.\n\nThanks,\n-Stolee\n"},{"id":"461419","messageId":"d1c1ec96-8062-1eaf-c0c5-466369e7b874@github.com","threadId":"58317","inReplyTo":"864680d7-69e0-c392-db39-28f15bce3935@github.com","subject":"Re: What's cooking in git.git (Aug 2022, #06; Wed, 17)","fromName":"Derrick Stolee","fromEmail":"derrickstolee@github.com","sentAt":"2022-08-18T13:19:18Z","receivedAt":"2022-08-18T13:19:23Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"stolee@gmail.com","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/570044?v=4"},"body":"On 8/18/2022 9:18 AM, Derrick Stolee wrote:\n\nApologies, all. Are you serious?\n\nThe proposed fix-up is for a part of git.c that only exists with your\nseries applied.\n\nBefore your series \"git bisect--helper\" supported\n\"--git-completion-helper\" (although not to do anything useful in\npractice).\n\nWith your series we have a \"bisect\" built-in. Built-ins by default claim\nto support \"--git-completion-helper\", but as your series also migrated\nthe code away from parse_options() it doesn't anymore.\n\nSo it makes sense for the relevant patch(es) to update the corresponding\nflag as that's changed, see also the in-flight 68494127d6c (git.c:\nupdate NO_PARSEOPT markings, 2022-07-25).\n"}]}
