Taylor\nsuggested that I should work on \"integrating a lookup table\nextension\" first as it is smaller compared to other sub-projects.\n\nThe idea is to have a table at the end of .bitmap file which\nwill contain the offsets (and xor-offsets) of the bitmaps of\nselected commits. Whenever git try to get the bitmap of a\nparticular commit, instead of loading each bitmaps one by one,\ngit will parse only the desired bitmap by using the offset and\nxor-offset of the table. This will reduce the overhead of\nloading each and every bitmap.\n\n"},{"id":"457746","messageId":"YrOA1hHc3BJiygqV@nand.local","threadId":"58037","inReplyTo":"20220620104441.10413-1-chakrabortyabhradeep79@gmail.com","subject":"Re: [GSoC] Abhradeep's GSoC blogs","fromName":"Taylor Blau","fromEmail":"me@ttaylorr.com","sentAt":"2022-06-22T20:51:34Z","receivedAt":"2022-06-22T20:51:42Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"me@ttaylorr.com","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/301000140?v=4"},"body":"Hi Abhradeep!\n\nOn Mon, Jun 20, 2022 at 04:14:41PM +0530, Abhradeep Chakraborty wrote:\n> Hello developers, this is the thread where you can know about\n> my weekly GSoC blog links.\n>\n> My Project - Reachability bitmap improvements\n>\n> Blog update\n> ------------\n>\n> Title - GSoC Week 1: Let's Get started\n> Blog link - https://medium.com/@abhra303/gsoc-week-1-lets-get-started-fad78ec34dcf\n\nI really enjoyed reading your blog post, and would encourage others who\nare interested in your work on reachability bitmaps to check it out if\nthey haven't already.\n\nI think you did a nice job explaining some background on what bitmaps\nare, and what they're useful for. I also appreciated your initiative to\nidentify and improve gaps in the Documentation/technical tree ;-).\n\nNow that that series is on the list, I can tell you that you did a great\njob of turning a WIP patch into a well-structured series. From watching\nand participating in the thread, I think that review is going well, and\nyou have some interesting areas to look a little further in while you\nprepare a second revision of the series.\n\nNote that the Git project is going to release v2.37 next week, and so\nothers on the list are likely more focused on ironing out any last bugs\nbefore the release, so you may see some more attention towards the\nmiddle or end of next week.\n\nIn the meantime: you are doing a great job, and I am looking forward to\nseeing another revision of your series! Let me know if you have any\nquestions in the meantime.\n\nThanks,\nTaylor\n"}]}
