(Steps to reproduce your issue)\nI used bash autocompletion. So:\ngit <tab>\n\nWhat did you expect to happen? (Expected behavior)\nThe bash environment variable ${COMP_WORDBREAKS} remains unmodified.\n\nWhat happened instead? (Actual behavior)\nCOMP_WORDBREAKS is modified. Specifically, a colon is appended.\n\nWhat's different between what you expected and what actually happened?\nCOMP_WORDBREAKS being modified.\n\nAnything else you want to add:\nThis breaks auto-completion of programs that rely on completing \narguments that\ninclude colons. For example, autocompleting arguments like: \"file://abc\" \n- hitting\ntab gives something like \"file:file://abc\". As far as I'm aware, modifying\nCOMP_WORDBREAKS is no longer considered good practice.\n\nDoing some research, I see the following patch, which I'd be in favor of \nusing:\nhttps://patchwork.kernel.org/project/git/patch/20201104174716.783348-6-felipe.contreras@gmail.com/\n\nNot sure if this will just get lost in the noise, but I figured I'd send \nthis at least as a 'bump' towards this issue.\n\n[System Info]\ngit version:\ngit version 2.36.1\ncpu: x86_64\nno commit associated with this build\nsizeof-long: 8\nsizeof-size_t: 8\nshell-path: /bin/sh\nuname: Linux 5.13.0-41-generic #46~20.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Apr 20 \n13:16:21 UTC 2022 x86_64\ncompiler info: gnuc: 9.4\nlibc info: glibc: 2.31\n$SHELL (typically, interactive shell): /bin/bash\n\n\n[Enabled Hooks]\nnot run from a git repository - no hooks to show\n\n"}]}
