I'm not sure how gitk operates and why it does not automatically\nbenefit from log.excludeDecoration. Is it computing its own decoration? Is\nit using a different Git command that isn't integrated with\nlog.excludeDecoration, but should be?\n\nI also cannot review that this patch works as advertised. As the inventor of prefetch refs, my opinion\nshould also be taken with similar salt.\n\nI do want to add at least that Git itself hides these refs by modifying\nlog.excludeDecoration during 'git maintenance start', so there is\nprecedent.
