The first comment on the PR (the PR description) is used\nas a cover letter for multi-patch series, and in the case of one-patch\nseries like yours is now, it is inserted as an \"in-patch commentary\", i.e.\nit is added below the '---' line as you found out.\n\n> \n> I decide to remove it from the PR.\n> \n> So, did I deal the right way this time?\n\nWell, if you are sending a subsequent version of your patch series,\nthis space is usually used to summarize in words what\nhas changed since the last version of the patch series.\nFor example, for your v4 you could have written:\n\nChanges since v3:\n- Improved <that> following comment from <insert reviewer name>\n- Reworded the commit message\n- etc.\n\nThis is a explained in the MyFirstContribution tutorial [1]. I would\nencourage you to do that if your series needs a v5 (I haven't read it yet).\nIt's also a way to make sure that you modified your patch to account\nfor all feedback you got in earlier iterations.\n\n> \n> Thank you\n> \n> -dyrone\n> \n\nOne last thing: most people prefer not to be emailed directy, but instead\nto be CC-ed on an email you send to the mailing list (git@vger.kernel.org).\nYou have much better chance of receiving an answer this way, as anybody who\nreads the mailing list will see your message and might take the time to answer.\n\nCheers,\n\nPhilippe.\n\n\n[1] https://git-scm.com/docs/MyFirstContribution#responding-ggg\n"},{"id":"417814","messageId":"e87e2ad1-e133-54d3-3f3d-8602ac242f64@gmail.com","threadId":"55209","inReplyTo":"25082af3-e8fd-e9d6-e980-43871c5b4840@gmail.com","subject":"Re: Help for the git patch with \"---\"","fromName":"Philippe Blain","fromEmail":"levraiphilippeblain@gmail.com","sentAt":"2021-02-25T13:22:42Z","receivedAt":"2021-02-25T13:23:46Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"levraiphilippeblain@gmail.com","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/44212482?v=4"},"body":"Le 2021-02-25 à 08:14, Philippe Blain a écrit :\n> Hi Dyrone,\n> \n> [CC-ing the list]\n> \n> Le 2021-02-25 à 04:36, 滕龙 a écrit :\n--snip--\n>> I decide to remove it from the PR.\n>>\n>> So, did I deal the right way this time?\n> \n> Well, if you are sending a subsequent version of your patch series,\n> this space is usually used to summarize in words what\n> has changed since the last version of the patch series.\n> For example, for your v4 you could have written:\n> \n> Changes since v3:\n> - Improved <that> following comment from <insert reviewer name>\n> - Reworded the commit message\n> - etc.\n> \n> This is a explained in the MyFirstContribution tutorial [1]. This is then used to CC these persons when sending further iterations of\nthe series. So you should *not* remove these \"CC:\" footer when you update the PR\ndescription to summarize you changes for each new version.\n"}]}
