This is to propagate obvious fixes that have\naccumulated on the 'master' front down to the 2.30.x series.\n\nThe tarballs are found at:\n\n    https://www.kernel.org/pub/software/scm/git/\n\nThe following public repositories all have a copy of the 'v2.30.1'\ntag and the 'maint' branch that the tag points at:\n\n  url = https://kernel.googlesource.com/pub/scm/git/git\n  url = git://repo.or.cz/alt-git.git\n  url = https://github.com/gitster/git\n\n----------------------------------------------------------------\n\nGit v2.30.1 Release Notes\n=========================\n\nThis release is primarily to merge fixes accumulated on the 'master'\nfront to prepare for 2.31 release that are still relevant to 2.30.x\nmaintenance track.\n\nFixes since v2.30\n-----------------\n\n * \"git fetch --recurse-submodules\" failed to update a submodule\n   when it has an uninitialized (hence of no interest to the user)\n   sub-submodule, which has been corrected.\n\n * Command line error of \"git rebase\" are diagnosed earlier.\n\n * \"git stash\" did not work well in a sparsely checked out working\n   tree.\n\n * Some tests expect that \"ls -l\" output has either '-' or 'x' for\n   group executable bit, but setgid bit can be inherited from parent\n   directory and make these fields 'S' or 's' instead, causing test\n   failures.\n\n * \"git for-each-repo --config=<var> <cmd>\" should not run <cmd> for\n   any repository when the configuration variable <var> is not defined\n   even once.\n\n * \"git mergetool --tool-help\" was broken in 2.29 and failed to list\n   all the available tools.\n\n * Fix for procedure to building CI test environment for mac.\n\n * Newline characters in the host and path part of git:// URL are\n   now forbidden.\n\n * When more than one commit with the same patch ID appears on one\n   side, \"git log --cherry-pick A...B\" did not exclude them all when a\n   commit with the same patch ID appears on the other side.  Now it\n   does.\n\n * Documentation for \"git fsck\" lost stale bits that has become\n   incorrect.\n\n * Doc for packfile URI feature has been clarified.\n\n * The implementation of \"git branch --sort\" wrt the detached HEAD\n   display has always been hacky, which has been cleaned up.\n\n * Our setting of GitHub CI test jobs were a bit too eager to give up\n   once there is even one failure found.  Tweak the knob to allow\n   other jobs keep running even when we see a failure, so that we can\n   find more failures in a single run.\n\nAlso contains minor documentation updates and code clean-ups.\n\n----------------------------------------------------------------\n\nChanges since v2.30.0 are as follows:\n\nAdam Dinwoodie (1):\n      t4129: fix setfacl-related permissions failure\n\nAntonio Russo (1):\n      t6016: move to lib-log-graph.sh framework\n\nDaniel Levin (1):\n      git-p4: fix syncing file types with pattern\n\nDerrick Stolee (1):\n      for-each-repo: do nothing on empty config\n\nElijah Newren (3):\n      t7012: add a testcase demonstrating stash apply bugs in sparse checkouts\n      stash: remove unnecessary process forking\n      stash: fix stash application in sparse-checkouts\n\nFelipe Contreras (1):\n      test: bisect-porcelain: fix location of files\n\nJeff King (5):\n      git_connect_git(): forbid newlines in host and path\n      fsck: reject .gitmodules git:// urls with newlines\n      t5516: loosen \"not our ref\" error check\n      patch-ids: handle duplicate hashmap entries\n      p5303: avoid sed GNU-ism\n\nJohannes Schindelin (1):\n      SKIP_DASHED_BUILT_INS: respect `config.mak`\n\nJohannes Sixt (1):\n      annotate-tests: quote variable expansions containing path names\n\nJonathan Tan (1):\n      Doc: clarify contents of packfile sent as URI\n\nJunio C Hamano (5):\n      parse-options: format argh like error messages\n      SubmittingPatches: tighten wording on \"sign-off\" procedure\n      ci/install-depends: attempt to fix \"brew cask\" stuff\n      Prepare for 2.30.1\n      Git 2.30.1\n\nMartin Ågren (9):\n      t1300: remove duplicate test for `--file ../foo`\n      t1300: remove duplicate test for `--file no-such-file`\n      t1300: don't needlessly work with `core.foo` configs\n      pack-format.txt: document sizes at start of delta data\n      builtin/gc: don't peek into `struct lock_file`\n      commit-graph: don't peek into `struct lock_file`\n      midx: don't peek into `struct lock_file`\n      refs/files-backend: don't peek into `struct lock_file`\n      read-cache: try not to peek into `struct {lock_,temp}file`\n\nMatheus Tavares (1):\n      t4129: don't fail if setgid is set in the test directory\n\nPeter Kaestle (1):\n      submodules: fix of regression on fetching of non-init subsub-repo\n\nPhilippe Blain (3):\n      gitmodules.txt: fix 'GIT_WORK_TREE' variable name\n      mergetool--lib: fix '--tool-help' to correctly show available tools\n      ci: do not cancel all jobs of a matrix if one fails\n\nRené Scharfe (1):\n      rebase: verify commit parameter\n\nTaylor Blau (2):\n      p7519: allow running without watchman prereq\n      Documentation/git-clone.txt: document race with --local\n\nThomas Ackermann (1):\n      doc: fix some typos\n\nUtku Gultopu (1):\n      doc: remove \"directory cache\" from man pages\n\nVasyl Vavrychuk (1):\n      git-send-email.txt: mention less secure app access with Gmail\n\nZheNing Hu (1):\n      builtin/*: update usage format\n\nbrian m. carlson (1):\n      docs: rephrase and clarify the git status --short format\n\nÆvar Arnfjörð Bjarmason (10):\n      branch: change \"--local\" to \"--list\" in comment\n      branch tests: add to --sort tests\n      ref-filter: add braces to if/else if/else chain\n      ref-filter: move \"cmp_fn\" assignment into \"else if\" arm\n      ref-filter: move ref_sorting flags to a bitfield\n      branch: sort detached HEAD based on a flag\n      branch: show \"HEAD detached\" first under reverse sort\n      Makefile: remove a warning about old GETTEXT_POISON flag\n      gettext.c: remove/reword a mostly-useless comment\n      fsck doc: remove ancient out-of-date diagnostics\n\n"}]}
