These are my results:\n\nThanks for your bug report.\n\nI guess this is probably related to my patch series aiming at giving\nnicer output in 'git range-diff', which probably introduced some bug.\n\n> Status\tVersion\t\t\tConfig\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tResult\n> ✘\t2.23.0.windows.1\t64-bit, local\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSegmentation fault\n> ✘\t2.23.0.windows.1\t64-bit, local, different ranges related to my current work\t\t\t\t\tSegmentation fault\n> ✔\t2.23.0.windows.1\t64-bit, local, different ranges completely different from my current work\t\t\tExpected range-diff output\n> ✘\t2.23.0.windows.1\tRemote connection to same workdir\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSegmentation fault\n> ✔\t2.23.0.windows.1\t64-bit, local, fresh clone, different ranges completely different from my current work\tExpected range-diff output\n> ✘\t2.23.0.windows.1\t32-bit, local\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSegmentation fault\n> ✔\t2.21.0.windows.1\t64-bit, local\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpected range-diff output\n> ✔\t2.21.0.windows.1\t64-bit, remoteconnection to same workdir\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpected range-diff output\n>\n> Both <range1> and <range2> comprise between 213 and 270 commits; git\n> gc counts 140394 objects (Total 140394 (delta 110638), reused 137275\n> (delta 107799)). Would you be able to gather a\nbacktrace from the segfault (not sure how to do this on Windows), or\nshare the repository where this segmentation fault occurs? \n\n> To avoid the problem I returned to using git version 2.21.0.windows.1\n> \n> I there something I should take into account when doing `git\n> range-diff` on a workdir or on a ranges of commits? It would be great if you could help\nwith some more details per above though, otherwise it's going to be\nhard to track this down.\n\n> With kind regards,\n> Kasper van den Berg\n"},{"id":"381605","messageId":"nycvar.QRO.7.76.6.1908302147490.46@tvgsbejvaqbjf.bet","threadId":"51779","inReplyTo":"6802cf61dcbf438cb2e01cd390c57390@EML-MBX11-DAY.ad.reyrey.com","subject":"Re: git range-diff <range1> <range2> throws Segmentation fault","fromName":"Johannes Schindelin","fromEmail":"johannes.schindelin@gmx.de","sentAt":"2019-08-30T19:48:44Z","receivedAt":"2019-08-30T19:48:51Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"johannes.schindelin@gmx.de","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/127790?v=4"},"body":"Hi Kasper,\n\nOn Fri, 30 Aug 2019, van den Berg, Kasper wrote:\n\n> `git range-diff <range1> <range2>` prints \"segmentation fault\" to the\n> console and nothing else.
