There is a googlegroups list \nfor git users. However..\n\nA detached head simply means that you are looking at a specific commit \n((hash number)), rather than the 'latest commit on the branch'.\n\nYou did not say which OS you were on, or if you prefer the command line, \nor a visual  gui to see the current arrangement of your commits - the \n'gitk' viewer is useful for the latter.\n\nIf you have already made some commits on the 'detached head' then use \nthe 'git branch' command, or 'git checkout -b' to create a branch name \nfor your new commits (check the manual). Having named the new commits, \nyou can get back to link the bits together. You can use 'cherry-pick' to \npick of individual commits from that new branch onto the new \ndestination, or use rebase if there is a series.\n\n\nPhilip\n\n"},{"id":"372142","messageId":"7EF15309FAA2EA4FAB1643CB55D93ED8DBD439@SUN-DAG3.synchrotron-soleil.fr","threadId":"50794","inReplyTo":"11e78b8b-77f5-af1c-c362-1ca7aa8585dc@talktalk.net","subject":"RE:[New to the mailing list] Searching for help","fromName":"MARIE Alexandre","fromEmail":"alexandre.marie@synchrotron-soleil.fr","sentAt":"2019-03-21T16:11:58Z","receivedAt":"2019-03-21T16:12:07Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"alexandre.marie@synchrotron-soleil.fr","avatar":null},"body":"Hello Philip\n\n> This list is for the development of Git.
