The gitweb\nmanpages are included in the main git package rather than in\nthe gitweb package with the rest of the gitweb files. I'll\nfix that for future releases and when f29 is updated to 2.21\nit will pick that up¹.\n\nSince gitweb requires git, you'd be sure to have the\ndocumentation after installing gitweb. If we made it\npossible to install gitweb without getting the\ndocumentation, that would be more annoying. :)\n\n¹ https://src.fedoraproject.org/fork/tmz/rpms/git/c/0d9ad786\n\n> it took only a few seconds to determine that fedora bundles that\n> functionality in two separate packages which are not dependencies of\n> \"git\": \"gitweb\" and \"git-instaweb\" (output abbreviated):\n> \n> $ sudo dnf install git-instaweb\n> ...\n> Installing:\n> git-instaweb\n> Installing dependencies:\n> gitweb\n> perl-CGI\n> \n> and now \"git-instaweb\" works fine.\n> \n> the question is, is it not inconsistent for fedora's basic \"git\"\n> package to include the man page for gitweb, without including the\n> corresponding functionality? is this something i should submit a\n> fedora bugzilla report for? or am i misunderstanding something?\n\nIf I hadn't seen this thread, then a report in the fedora\nbugzilla would be the way to go to ensure one of the fedora\ngit maintainers noticed it.\n\nThanks,\n\n-- \nTodd\n"},{"id":"370026","messageId":"alpine.LFD.2.21.1902231226440.555@localhost.localdomain","threadId":"50569","inReplyTo":"20190223171200.GB16125@zaya.teonanacatl.net","subject":"Re: on fedora, \"man gitweb\" exists but actual gitweb command is missing","fromName":"Robert P.
