Annotated tags\ndo, but lightweight tags do not.\n\nFor annotated tags you should be able to build an alias which lists\nall the tag objects and includes the author, i.e.\n\ngit for-each-ref --format='%(refname)%09%(tagger)' refs/tags\n\nThis will list the refname along with its tagger.\n\nI'm sure patches to add a \"--tagger\" option to git tag in list mode\nwould also be welcome.\n\nThanks,\nJake\n"},{"id":"368201","messageId":"CA+P7+xojhETwiwX-ADMoY8Ln8DJ9RSRq6NWfLrtarLv=rBh22w@mail.gmail.com","threadId":"50362","inReplyTo":"5e27b012-c915-e390-9391-e42e1c9bb08b@narod.ru","subject":"Re: Feature suggestion: Filter branches by user","fromName":"Jacob Keller","fromEmail":"jacob.keller@gmail.com","sentAt":"2019-01-30T21:58:13Z","receivedAt":"2019-01-30T23:02:43Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"jacob.keller@gmail.com","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/874719?v=4"},"body":"On Wed, Jan 30, 2019 at 1:51 PM Victor Porton <porton@narod.ru> wrote:\n>\n> On 30/01/2019 23:49, Jacob Keller wrote:\n> > On Wed, Jan 30, 2019 at 7:22 AM Victor Porton <porton@narod.ru> wrote:\n> >> I want Git to display all branches created by me.\n> >>\n> >> So we need the new feature of Git, to display all branches created by a\n> >> given user (\"me\" by default).\n> >>\n> >> I think, the similar feature for tags may also be useful.\n> >>\n> > Branches don't contain authorship, as far as I know. Annotated tags\n> > do, but lightweight tags do not.\n> So it should be changed. Branches should contain authorship (to\n> implement my feature suggestion).\n\nIf you wanted to implement such a feature, yes that would have to be part if it.\n\nI do not believe that it would be easy, and it would likely require a\nlot of effort to do so, because branches don't point to specific\nobjects (unlike annotated tags), and thus the information about \"who\ncreated a branch\" would not align well with an object.\n\nYou *can* use the most recent commit in a branch as a proxy of \"who\nlast edited this branch\", possibly by using the committer.\n\nHowever, because branches change over time, (as new commits are\nadded), you can't simply store the information of who created the\nbranch as an object (which is what annotated tags do).\n\nI'm not sure this is feasible.\n\nA simpler solution for your end, is to have an standard prefix you use\nfor your own branches (i.e. I use jk-, because that's my initials).\nThen you can use prefix matching to find the branches that are your\nown.\n\nThanks,\nJake\n\nP.S. It helps if you leave the list in the reply line so that the\ndiscussion remains public, as this is an open mailing list.\n"}]}
