Thanks.\n\nI think you mean that you're in the pager (less(1), most likely). \nMany/most Git commands that can generate a large amount of output (git\nlog, git diff, git show, etc.) will automatically send the output to a\npager so you can scroll through it easily.\n\n\nThe man page for git branch says:\n\n CONFIGURATION\n pager.branch is only respected when listing branches, i.e., when --list\n is used or implied. The default is to use a pager. See git-config(1).\n\nSo, if you never want to use the pager for git branch output you can\nconfigure the pager.branch option to set it always off.\n\nOr you can use \"git branch | cat\" so that stdout is not a terminal :).\n"},{"id":"338640","messageId":"5A7788B0-6250-4D1F-A86D-E3155C03EF0C@gmail.com","threadId":"47772","inReplyTo":"CAGZ79kaxf3qUyOe6R-LCgyLtwzrwhB=y767tk2qPbC_KR473ig@mail.gmail.com","subject":"Re: \"git branch\" issue in 2.16.1","fromName":"Lars Schneider","fromEmail":"larsxschneider@gmail.com","sentAt":"2018-02-07T17:54:23Z","receivedAt":"2018-02-07T17:54:40Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"larsxschneider@gmail.com","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/477434?v=4"},"body":"\n> On 06 Feb 2018, at 21:05, Stefan Beller <sbeller@google.com> wrote:\n> \n> On Tue, Feb 6, 2018 at 11:57 AM, Todd Zullinger <tmz@pobox.com> wrote:\n>> Hi Jason,\n>> \n>> Jason Racey wrote:\n>>> After upgrading git from 2.16.0 to 2.16.1 (via Homebrew -\n>>> I’m on macOS) I noticed that the “git branch” command\n>>> appears to display the branch listing in something similar\n>>> to a vi editor - though not quite the same.
