Since I haven't used\nSVN before and try to have a clean and bisectable history, I installed\ngit with the intent to manage my code locally before pushing to SVN\nwhen I'm satisfied (I haven't tries git-svn because I have never used\nit and would like to avoid screwing up the SVN repo by some mistake).\n\nSo first to setup the local repo, I wanted to add all of the code\nfiles. So I first ran at the root of the repo:\n $ git add ./**.cpp\nWhich is quite a big amount of files (partly because of external\ndependencies which would have been smart to exclude, but it's\ndone).\n $ find -type f -name \"**.cpp\" | wc -l\n 8676\nThis command worked (return status is 0 and no error message).\n\nHowever following `git add **.hpp` and `git status` segfault with no\nadditional message:\n $ git status\n Segmentation fault\nI didn't try to test other commands (`git diff --cached` works\nthough).\n\n$ git --version\ngit version 2.12.2.windows.1\n\nThis seems to be reproducible.\n\nSadly I won't be able to share the repo where this happens.\n\nFWIW:\n $ git fsck\n notice: HEAD points to an unborn branch (master)\n Checking object directories: 100% (256/256), done.\n notice: No default references\n\nThanks,\nRémi Galan Alfonso\n"},{"id":"316180","messageId":"alpine.DEB.2.20.1704051057150.4268@virtualbox","threadId":"45605","inReplyTo":"ca311f4c1abc4460b6bc2d444916b6bf@almacam.com","subject":"Re: Segfault on git for Windows","fromName":"Johannes Schindelin","fromEmail":"johannes.schindelin@gmx.de","sentAt":"2017-04-05T08:58:47Z","receivedAt":"2017-04-05T08:59:03Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"johannes.schindelin@gmx.de","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/127790?v=4"},"body":"Hi Rémi,\n\nOn Wed, 5 Apr 2017, Rémi Galan Alfonso wrote:\n\n> At $DAYWORK, the code is versionned under SVN.
