As soon as multiple files are changed, i often have the use-case that i'm in some bigger change, but want to quickly fix something in other files. In those cases, the new behavior forces me to `d` out of potentially many files, just to quickly commit some small change :-/\n\nI already tried in several repos and without ~/.gitconfig .\nAre there any config options i'm missing?\n\nBest,\nJörn\n\n"},{"id":"313660","messageId":"20170309182320.n77lvytjh7u2b2a2@sigill.intra.peff.net","threadId":"45329","inReplyTo":"8C99B562-9194-4227-B40D-F64BBECEEE38@joernhees.de","subject":"Re: git commit --interactive patch-mode no longer allows selecting files","fromName":"Jeff King","fromEmail":"peff@peff.net","sentAt":"2017-03-09T18:23:20Z","receivedAt":"2017-03-09T18:23:28Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"peff@peff.net","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/45925?v=4"},"body":"On Thu, Mar 09, 2017 at 06:48:58PM +0100, Jörn Hees wrote:\n\n> i'm not entirely sure if this is a bug or intended (couldn't find it in the changelogs though)...\n> \n> Before 2.12.0 a `git commit --int` / `git add --int` followed by [p]\n> for patch-mode, would allow a numeric selection of the files to patch\n> hunks for (this behavior is well documented all over the internet).\n> \n> Since 2.12.0 the numeric selection is skipped and automatically drops\n> me directly into hunk mode (Mac OS X homebrew).\n\nIt's a bug.
