Why is that?\n\nHi Chris,\n\nThat file is specific to the git for windows project, not git itself.\nWhile you may be able to find somebody on the git@vger mailinglist who\nknows the answer, git for windows also has a separate mailinglist at\nhttps://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/git-for-windows and a chat room\nat https://gitter.im/git-for-windows/git -- these may be of more\nassistance in this case.\n\n-- \nDennis Kaarsemaker\nhttp://www.kaarsemaker.net\n\n\n"},{"id":"303198","messageId":"alpine.DEB.2.20.1610041223010.35196@virtualbox","threadId":"44179","inReplyTo":"CAJQwtsidixAAJKp7-b2PmXgs=mS+PbT5ebOmKLJU1nEn7UJ2og@mail.gmail.com","subject":"Re: Repeatable Extraction","fromName":"Johannes Schindelin","fromEmail":"johannes.schindelin@gmx.de","sentAt":"2016-10-04T10:25:46Z","receivedAt":"2016-10-04T10:26:09Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"johannes.schindelin@gmx.de","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/127790?v=4"},"body":"Hi Chris,\n\nOn Tue, 27 Sep 2016, chris king wrote:\n\n> Is there a way automate extraction that will repeatably generate the\n> same files? Why is that?\n\nThe reason is that you look at 32-bit, where technical limitations force\nus to hard-code a certain base address for all of the includede MSYS2 .dll\nfiles (i.e. all libraries that require, or implement, the POSIX emulation\nlayer called MSYS2).\n\nTo avoid clashes with other .dll files, that base address is adjusted via\nthe post-install.bat script for your particular environment.\n\nIf you want to avoid that, you will have to extract the installer via\n7-Zip: it is a self-extracting .7z archive (and the self-extractor\nautomatically executes post-install.bat, which subsequently deletes\nitself).\n\nCiao,\nJohannes\n"}]}
