Some people\nmentioned a fish or a turtle. Since all the great open source projects\nlike Linux or RethinkDB have a cute mascot, git definitely needs one\nas well. A mascot gives people a recognizable persona towards which\nthey can direct their unbounded love for the project. It'd even be\ngood if a plush doll of this mascot could eventually be created for\npeople to physically express their love of git through cuddling and\nhugging.\n\nI'm not really an artist myself, but maybe someone else has some ideas\nand could make some sketches? But I don't\nthink anyone can make a cute mascot out of that. I'd think of a simple and elegant caricature of a tall tree (just like git\nhistories tend to get long) with a couple of branches and some cherries (think\ncherry-pick) hanging around in the lush green crown. Perhaps wearing green\ngloves and hands on waist, with big dark eyes and a smile. IMHO, it might be a\ngood  idea to let the mascot have a simple and minimal design instead of\nintricate detailing as it would be both easier remember and easier for\nproduction. Also, I'm not a _very_ good sketch artist, but I think I can make\nsome basic sketches for this one.\n\nRegards,\nSidhant \n"}]}
