And it\nalso poses an excellent excuse for me to make some more visible changes in\nthe Git for Windows installer.\n\nIn particular, I would like to enable fscache by default:\n\n\thttps://github.com/git-for-windows/build-extra/pull/101\n\nThe fscache feature lets us read the stat() information much more\nefficiently on Windows, by using a fast, whole-directory method (read: it\nwill actually slow down things if only one or two files’ stat()\ninformation is required, but that is not typically the case).\n\nMany power users use this feature for quite some time already, so it is\nsafe to say that it stood the test of time.\n\nAnother option I plan to change is whether/what to add to the PATH:\n\n\thttps://github.com/git-for-windows/build-extra/pull/102\n\nPreviously, we did not add anything to the system-wide PATH by default at\nall. So installing Git for Windows would not result in users being able to\nuse Git, except from the Git Bash. This is not helpful for most Windows\nusers (who are much more familiar with cmd.exe than with the Bash).\n\nThanks for your feedback!\nJohannes"}]}
