Let me\nknow if I shall use another one), and students who showed interest in\nGSoC (I may have missed some ...). Bcc-ed is a student who applied via\nthe web interface but did not disclose his email publicly yet.\n\nAs a reminder, the GSoC students application period has started (since\nMarch 14, deadline = March 25th = soon).\n\nUp to now, we have 2 ongoing applications (1 final PDF and one draft).\n\nI didn't see much discussion about students proposals, and I'm a bit\nworried about it. My main advice to students: make sure your\napplications are seen and reviewed by as many people as possible, and\ngive them time to send feedback.\n\nA few important things to know:\n\n* Anything submitted on https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com/ is visible\n  only to people invited there. Don't hesitate to discuss on-list to get\n  feedback from other people (and don't hesitate to Cc people that may\n  be interested, not everybody reads the whole list).\n\n* PDF final proposals are visible to mentors only after the deadline.\n  Nobody can comment on it before. Right now there's a final proposal\n  without a draft, I suspect I'd have a lot of comments to make on it\n  given the abstract, but I can't because I can't read the text.\n\n* OTOH, drafts are meant to be read and commented before the deadline.\n  The new site suggests using a google doc that can be edited,\n  commented, ... and the same link can be posted to the list.\n\nTo potential mentors: please log in on the GSoC website and keep an eye\non the list of proposals. A few reminders for students:\n\n* You need to submit a final application before the (strict) deadline.\n  Your draft won't be turned into a final version automatically.\n\n* You may submit your \"final application\" multiple times. We (admins &\n  mentors) don't see it before the deadline, but you can re-submit until\n  then. If I were you, I'd submit a PDF right now (actually, I'd have\n  done that a few days ago ;-) ).
