I don't know if \nthis configuration is baked into the Windows x64 Git GUI executable or \nset in an ini or config file somewhere.\n\nI'm trying to document the install process for my team's implementation \nof git. If this issue can't be resolved, or if previous Windows \ninstaller versions aren't available, my team's git implementation is \nblocked.\n\nWe could try to simply copy the \"missing\" subdirectory (which actually \ndoes exist somewhere else) into the \"cmd\" subdirectory, but that would \nseem really clumsy and it will affect the team members' first \nimpressions of git. We're trying to move from SVN to git, and most of my \nteam members have not used git before.\n\nAny assistance or reply from the devs would be appreciated.  Thank you.\n\n\n"},{"id":"269819","messageId":"ace58f6b47c9c7096f8f30a4472433e8@dscho.org","threadId":"40332","inReplyTo":"loom.20150911T232244-141@post.gmane.org","subject":"Re: error opening","fromName":"Johannes Schindelin","fromEmail":"johannes.schindelin@gmx.de","sentAt":"2015-09-12T09:56:52Z","receivedAt":"2015-09-12T09:56:52Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"johannes.schindelin@gmx.de","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/127790?v=4"},"body":"Hi Adrian,\n\nplease note that Renato never got your mail (you should always use reply-to-all). In the meantime, as a work-around you could right-click on the Git GUI shortcut (you can right-click the icon in the Windows menu and open the file location to get there), select Properties... and change the Target: from\n\n\"C:\\Program Files\\Git\\cmd\\git-gui.exe\"\n\nto\n\n\"C:\\Program Files\\Git\\cmd\\git.exe\" gui\n\nIt will open an ugly, unnecessary console until the next Git for Windows version is available, but at least it will work until then.\n\nOut of curiosity: how did you go about finding the best place to report this bug?\n\nCiao,\nJohannes\n"},{"id":"269830","messageId":"loom.20150912T181707-598@post.gmane.org","threadId":"40332","inReplyTo":"CAF2U6N0HzgWK-4D2Ednt46u_R+eL2-2C9g9GpczyAvj+pKv-EQ@mail.gmail.com","subject":"Re: error opening","fromName":"Andy","fromEmail":"silicon.tao@gmail.com","sentAt":"2015-09-12T16:17:52Z","receivedAt":"2015-09-12T16:17:52Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"silicon.tao@gmail.com","avatar":null},"body":"Is apparently a known issue.\n\nHere is a temp fix : https://github.com/git-for-windows/git/issues/376\n"}]}
