We put the repository on Windows\nmachine, on which we can access remotely and mounted the directory on\nCENTOS_6, that we use by the WMVare Player (basically we all have\nWindows on our machines, through the VMPlayer we access the local\nfiles of CENTOS_6) .\n\nAs i got the bundle file i pulled it on my CENTOS_6 machine on the\nsame branch : git pull NAME_BRANCH.bundle NAME_BRANCH\n\nThe bundle has been created : git bundle create NAME_BRANCH.bundle NAME_BRANCH\n\nThe 2 repositories, the one we get from our colleagues and our local\none are the same. Now are trying to share changes through bundles and\nwe are using the same branch name to create bundles and pull bundles.\n\n\n2) I did not check the permission before and after , we have several\nfiles and several directories, ,but after having the problem i just\ngave the chmod -R 777 to all the files, i am sure that all the files\ninvolved have those permission. Still i get the problem when trying to\npush.\n\n3) I tryed to clone the repository using --bare, and i used it as a\nlocal repository on linux. Only in this case i can push without\nproblems after pulling the bundle.\n\nSo if the repository is on the local machine itself (CENTOS_6) i do\nnot have the problem. But we need to have it in a shared folder on\nwindows. When we try to push on the repository on Windows we get\npermission problems.(Of course we dont get problems before pulling the\nbundle).\n\nSo again the 2 possibilities that we tryed are:\n\nFIST ONE (PERMISSION PROBLEMS)\n\n- Repo is on windows\n- Repo folder is shared\n-Repo is a copy of another repository being on a machine in another\ncity on which we cannot access. They solved it by re-initializing the repository\nwith --shared parameter.\n\nLooking what shared does in the documentation of git-init, the default\nis to use \"umask\" if --shared is \"not specified\". I'm not sure if even\nWindows has any sort of umask.. In any case, my wild guess is that\nsome operations triggers the remote Git process/user to create new\nfiles (repack, gc, etc) that get restricted permissions on Windows.\n\nHow do you set permissions to 777 on Windows? I didn't know Windows\nuses the same kind of permissions there.. Anyhow, is it possible for\nyou to reset the permissions again so that the pushing works again\n(until the next bundle)? If you can do so, configure the bare\nrepository to have --shared=all, and see if that helps.\n\nFor more help, please share with us the following:\n\n* A complete zip of the bare repository where pushing still works\n(shared over Internet, not as email attachment)\n* The commands you are executing, and their complete output\n* A complete zip of the bare repository where pushing no longer works\n* The complete configuration of the Linux client where the push is\nfailing (git config -l)\n\n\nAlso noting that this seems to be cross-posted to StackOverflow:\nhttp://stackoverflow.com/questions/30500226/git-push-fatal-write-error-permission-denied-after-pulling-a-bundle\n"},{"id":"263226","messageId":"CAJeiYQH2fK3EMXUV9Qrbf+19Dp1Ls0KR58DnJfEzKih6NUrO6Q@mail.gmail.com","threadId":"39523","inReplyTo":"CAEcj5uVQkeex=q_ssDYYo=jamYX-zdM2FvG61Kgzq-XDdzhtHQ@mail.gmail.com","subject":"Re: Permission denied ONLY after pulling bundles","fromName":"Rossella Barletta","fromEmail":"rossella.barletta@gmail.com","sentAt":"2015-06-08T15:19:52Z","receivedAt":"2015-06-08T15:19:52Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"rossella.barletta@gmail.com","avatar":null},"body":"Dear Thomas,\n\nUnfortunatly for me i cannot send the files, since there are\nrestrictions, but thanks for your offer.\n\nAt the moment also configuring the repo with --shared=all is not\nhelping, but i could try to reproduce the problem with a fake repo\nshared between windows and linux and see if i get the same error and\nat the point i will share the files\n\nwith you.\n\nThanks again.\n\n\n\nRossella\n\n2015-06-08 15:03 GMT+02:00 Thomas Ferris Nicolaisen <tfnico@gmail.com>:\n> On Mon, Jun 8, 2015 at 10:47 AM, Rossella Barletta\n> <rossella.barletta@gmail.com> wrote:\n>>\n>> So summarizing:\n>>\n>> 1) Git repository (bare) is on Windows on a shared folder\n>> 2) Clone of the repository is on Linux\n>> 3) Clone of the repository is on windows\n>> 4) I received a bundle made starting by a branch, i pull the bundle on\n>> the same branch on Windows, i push the changes , everything ok\n>> 5) I go on the clone on Linux, i pull the changes in the branch, make\n>> some updates, push...but i get error message about permissions.\n>>\n>>\n>>\n>> 4-Alternative) I received a bundle made starting by a branch, i pull\n>> the bundle on the same branche on Linux, i push the changes ,\n>> permission errors.\n>>\n>> The permissions of the files are all set to 777.
