I already had tee-shirts that only\ncomputer scientists could understand, now I have a tee-shirt that not\neven every computer scientist can understand.\n\nNow, I have a problem: I'm not sure I understand what the drawing\nrepresents.\n\nInitially, I thought the circles represented Git contributors, and links\nrepresented people contributing to the same parts of the codebase. But\nlooking at the output of \"shortlog -s\", I can't find a correspondance\nwith the tee-shirt. My second guess is that they represent directories.\nBut even then, I can't find which of the tee-shirt's circles represents\nwhich directory, and the count doesn't match.\n\nDoes anybody have a better explanation? It is showing that the tree has grown,\nbut I think it is much more interesting how the number of contributors\nhas grown (or the number of users!). I guess the tweaks are what make it\nhard to do the actual correspondance (there are 53 circles on the\ndrawing if I counted correctly, and 156 directory in today's Git for\nexample). The biggest dirs in number of files today are:\n\n./builtin 99\n./t/t5515 128\n./t/t4013 144\n./Documentation 221\n./Documentation/RelNotes 242\n. 378\n./t 774\n\nThe directories at 4e7a2eccc21c902918 (Thu Dec 29 01:31:26 2005 -0800)\nwere:\n\n./Documentation/technical 2\n./mozilla-sha1 2\n./arm 3\n./ppc 3\n./compat 4\n./Documentation/howto 8\n./templates 12\n./debian 14\n./t/t4100 14\n./t 62\n./Documentation 126\n. 191\n\nSo, t/ would be a nice candidate for the big circle on the left hand\nside (small in 2005, but biggest as of now), and ./ would be the one on\nits right (used to be biggest, but no longer). Documentation/ is the one\nat the top (with subdirs howto/ and technical/ in 2005, and the new\nRelNotes/ today). I'm not sure where builtin/ is, it was probably\ntweaked too much (it's supposed to be rather big in 2015 and inexistant\nin 2005, without subdirs).\n\n-- \nMatthieu Moy\nhttp://www-verimag.imag.fr/~moy/\n"}]}
