The issue is to update the 'heuristic' process to get \nit right, while still being backward compatible.\n\nA potential solution was identified in [1], and a similar problem (where \ndoes HEAD point to..) was recently covered in patch [2] (and discussions \neither side) .\n\nI'd be quite happy for a GSoC candidate/student to have a go at it, \nespecially as I've let it languish! ;-)\n--\nPhilip\n\n--\nEssentially, hide the clues as to where the Symbolic refs point to \n(other symrefs) after a null char in the line format..\n\nPerhaps also add a 'Rev #<n>' after the bundle's version line as well ?\n\n[1] \nhttp://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.version-control.git/258827/focus=259087 \n(addition of symref=refs/heads/master after a \\0 null at the end of the \nrefs line.)\n[2] \nhttp://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.version-control.git/263922/focus=264936\n[3] http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.version-control.git/234053 has an \nolder discussion regarding the same issue ('where does HEAD point to') \non cloning.
